Road to Home, Grease Pit

It was the following morning after Jessiah had finally shot Tuki's old car, effectively ending its misery in her opinion. That girl had about driven her car into the ground, leaving Jess to wonder just how she was able to go for as long as it must have in it's poor condition. Either way, Jess pulled a very late night stripping the wreck of the reuseable parts and setting them aside. She'd also spent a few hours into the night digging through the boxes that had arrived from new Flaggstaff, 'donations' as it were from Joe Spivey.

Blood, Fuel and Steel

Jeassiah was working in the garage at Hope Springs, before her the burned out wreckage of her car she'd driven for so long. She sighed as she surveys the destruction heaped upon the anceint car, the tools she had available, and the small ssortment of parts she'd been able to collect so far.

Rear Window [6]

Hanne was back at the window In truth she had been there most of the afternoon. As the sun drifted into late afternoon and on into evening, and as Hanne’s cup of tea was now clay cold,

Hanne climbed the last stair and crossed the second floor landing. She paused a moment as her hand rested on the door handle.

The familiar brass plate in front of her smelled of Brass Cleaner and shone brightly even in the darkened stairwell. The dark letters embossed into the metal spelled out " The Ranyhyn Company" clearly.

"Perfect !"

Hyle smiled as she looked out of her window to see the sun beating down. She had cleared a space in her schedule and was now humming happily to herself as she packed her sunbathing kit into a bag.

"Towel... sun oil... "

She picked up the bikini, looked at it and chuckled. Then put it back in her drawer.

" Nej, you are  not needed"

Dressing herself in loose clothing, she closed her house door and minutes later, Hyle's car was rumbling up Main Street, heading for The Waffelhus.

Salute to the King

Rodney stood near the crates and the mailbox in New Flagstaff that once also acted as a sort of office, turned inside out, for Joe. He looked at a nearby pile of Joe's old underpants and smiled. Joe always had a bloodhound sense for profit, even turning his old underpants into scrap cotton to sell to unsuspecting people. He would miss Joe, the grumbles, the insults, the smell of strong tea and stale cigar smoke. The man had charm.

Letter to Brown

Dear Ms.  Brown,

I would like to report several different subjects and in order to do so I

shall divide them into topics.

Engel's picture

There is one name that remains on my list here, right between Joe Spivey and Madam Kaho's name. All the other names get crossed with sidenotes like: "she is dead" and "he is tagged and taken care of". There is a note next to Veronica Volt's name though and it says: "Pants". It's an' old gang lingo and it can mean many things. For example it can mean "cheap date", someone you can easily slip into like a good pair of pants. But here it means something else, someone you can confide in safely.

-- 6:47 AM --

A call with a shoulder being tugged.

- Hey, wake up! C’mon wake up or I’ll push you out of bed!

- mmm... no! One more minute please.

- You’ll be late for the class. Mister Jones hates people who are late. He’ll make you kneel on some grains, you’ll see. Erm, on your only knee I mean. It’ll be half of the pain at least.

Driftlin's Log - 'Do me a favor?'

((So I tried out a new writing style/format. I kinda like it, i might even do up some of the plans/lists Pyrok has done and the ones to come.))

There was something here, now it's not.

(IC) A Letter for Mister Spivey

(( This is a letter supposed to be delivered for Joe Spivey at the Spider Hill Radio Station. It is an underdevelopment proposal of plot/event(s). By any means no one must see this as an obligation nor acknowledge it immediatly. The idea is heavily inspired in movies/books such as: Hunger Games and Running Man (1987).

A Friend's Friend [2]

The search eventually led me to Beau's Tavern. I have at least one certain trail concerning this place, and it proved to be true. Joe shows up and sits at the counter. After days of trying to track him down, I manage to get a hold of him. There are a lot of questions lingering in the air, and it's high time I started asking them one by one.....

Me: Is anyone here wanted for employment?

Young Patron: If you'll want me I'll be glad to take some work off of you, sir!

Me: What's your name?

A Friend's Friend

When you look for someone, the best bet would be to wait for them to show up at a place they simply have to show up. An assassin would have to show up near their target sooner or later, a housewife with no distress would show up at her home, and a trader would show up at a market. The downside is everything else they do: it can seriously mess up calculations. The man I am looking for shouldn't have any distraction from his usual hangout though, if something does happen I should be hearing about it, and all I have to do is sit it out and wait.

Room for Thought

A room is just a room, you can be inside it or you can be outside it. But close the door, put a lock on that door, a lock to which you have no key and the room becomes a prison to some, a mystery to others. Such was Brown's room in Spider Hill, but now the door was open and it was no longer a mystery.

Standing Room Only

Veronica stood in the cramp toilet cubicle just past the garage in Spider Hill, her legs flush with the wall. Toilet Boy stood opposite her.

'Why do I keep getting into these situations? she thought as she shuffled slightly to avoid brushing against the toilet squeezed between them. At least it was clean, perhaps Toilet Boy was finding the time to fit in his other job despite working as security for Brown.

Naked Truths

Veronica looked over to the pile of clothing a few paces away and then back to the man in front of her who stood in the arid waste land wearing only his underpants and a stupid grin. She could feel the stares from a small group of people standing over on the road which passed by Spider Hill, burning into the back of her head.

It's at times like this, thought Veronica, that I wonder just what the hell I'm doing here.

She squinted in the sunlight and peered at the face of the man in front of her. Toilet Boy began to laugh.

Brief Encounter

It was late afternoon in the square at New Flagstaff. Tuki had finished her classes for the day and had just dropped off several thousand rounds of ammunition at Joe's lockup. Now she was in the square looking for bargains amongst the auctions and picking up a few neccessities to make her new home at Haven more... home-like. With this done she ambled over to where Mr Stinky had curled up on the grass after a snack consisting of the last two rabbits Tuki had left in the saddlebags.

Turning Up and Tuning In

The meeting went well, although this new technician who has joined the radio project seems a little odd, a Miss Brown, knows her stuff, but knows Joe as well... something was not right...

Baka drove south, unaware that her now automatic habit of never going home in a straight line had successfully thrown off the person attempting to follow her. Lohengrin blared on the carefully rebuilt music player. This particular piece of Wagner's she thought of  as 'music to think to'.

A Thousand Eyes

Veronica parked the bike down between the buildings and walked towards the New Flagstaff pond area. A light breeze was creating ripples on the water. The seats around the pond were empty and although Veronica was tempted to sit there a while and relax for a moment she knew it would be foolish after her last visit here, that night time visit to the Spivey warehouse. People were gathered over by the vaults and she wondered if any of them were looking for her and she shivered as if a thousand eyes were looking over in her direction.

Warehouse Break In - Part 1 - Getting In

They looked a slightly comical bunch, Gina in her darker Vista gear, Sean, the man who had offered his help and seemed trust worthy also dressed in darker clothes but appropriately armed, just in case, and Veronica dressed in black pants and a dark grey top and wearing black sneakers. They all had their roles, there was a job to be done, a warehouse to break into and secrets to be uncovered.

Making a mend

Veronica pulled a face as carefully, very carefully, she attached another faster to the device she was making. It was an oven. Small. Tiny. But it worked from solar heat.

"I do a lot of travelling down south," the man has told her. "And when on the road I want to be able to make a cup cake just like Martha used to."

The man pulled out a matted clump of hair from his pocket and started running it through his fingers before continuing. "She used to make such wonderful cakes. Before that blightwolf got her."
