The title is pretty laid out but in case it confuses people. I was wondering everyone's thoughts on doing an IC time skip to 15 years later? I mean, it would certainly be interesting to see things evolve and it can really spark up some new RP ideas!
Also, It could be a cool way for people to somewhat start fresh and have their character change! Of course, with you (The community) this would have to be a team effort and decision! So what'd you guys think? :)
I don't see how that would work. Do you mean everyone skips ahead 15 years or just you. Also, if we are clones then unless we don't use the bunkers at all then we will still be exactly the same 15 years from now. I don't think I quite get what it is you are trying to achieve.
Stick with me kid and you'll be farting through silk.
That's exactly what I mean! Everyone skips ahead 15 years. For one lifers it can make things interesting for RP! IT's not much of trying to achieve something, more so just inviting people to take on a new change! Take a step forward, y'know? :)
Ah right. I can't see it working though. People are attached to how their characters are now, they have lives now. Take Joe and Kirsten for example (and one or two other pairs in similar situations) they have a daughter, a toddler. Zip forward 15 years and that is 15 years of growing up we wouldn't get to play. For reasons like that and reasons 'other' I doubt you'd get a full take up, and without a full take up it can't work. Two characters meet who are 15 years apart? Sorry, I must vote 'no' for this.
Stick with me kid and you'll be farting through silk.
....if you put money into a bank account with high interest and jump ahead 15 years, would your character make interest? Joe is automagically exempt, because he's Joe. Asking him that is like asking Hyle if she's holding a street party.

Anything to shake things up and bring a new challenge - why not, though the time skip is better suited for FERP based stories than actual role play in the game in my opinion.

In FERP not a problem, heck I've skipped forward over 700 years in one story. But in-game there would be problems as mentioned above. Example: John robs Jane. Jane: "You can't do that. I'm 15 years in the furure."
Stick with me kid and you'll be farting through silk.
I think you would still be getting people who simply didn't skip because they don't want to or find whole idea pointless. Then there would be people from the future and people from the past separated by 15 years during which absolutely nothing happend.
Maybe K Rawk will show up with some grey hair. *Old man senile voice* "Oh you must be Reavy's Daughter. You look just like your mother. Can you help an old man find his revolver?"
Glad you think so as well! I was hoping others would as well. A shame how there's 17 no's and 10 yes's. I myself had a plot planned but would require a slight time fast forward!
I think it would help New RPers get to kinda get a fresh start and learn characters easier! But hey, I can't say I didn't try to put an idea into motion. At least I gave it a shot :)
As a FERP based scenario this could be interesting if an outside development was imcluded as a setting (Police State, Epidemic, Lifenet Failure as ezamples) which our future selves could play off.
Stick with me kid and you'll be farting through silk.
Well I never specified what would happen in this 15 year time fast forward, which is why I left it up to the community to maybe think about some cool RP ideas! Y'know? :)
15 years forward from the time the NPCs state at the cloner? Or 15 years from where Ardenn's timeline ended? I found my weekly journals had a lot of people using the dates I posted for a logn ass time. I based that off Launch dates using real time. However if you sued Game time and estimated from Launch, 20 years later would probably be a more realistic time expanse. As long as people know your starting point and the frame of refrence on how fast time runs, its not that hard to impliment really. Just update regularly for people who are interested and dont force it on people who want to be fresh out of the pod and immerse themselves in the lore for the first time and you should be fine.
Just my two bits.

personally in 15 years John would probably have a following again, so for The Master Butcher this seems very impractical, and no I would not want to start fresh. What can I say Azazel likes eating faces I like him for doing it. So yea, my vote is nein.

I think it would make a very interesting Ferp rp (been wanting one) and it would be easier to get more folks in on it that way.
As far as in game is concerned I personally would be less likely to participate then I would on the website.
