‘No!’
‘Yes!’
‘No!’
‘Yes!’
‘There are!’
‘No, only orange and black’
‘You are wrong!’ the little girl said to her mother as they walked along the street in New Flagstaff. ‘I have seen one.’
‘You have never seen one,’ the mother said shaking her head. ‘Only pictures in the books.’
‘I have,’ the little girl said with much exasperation.’
The mother smiled ‘Really? White with purple stripes?’
‘Yes!’ the little girl said wondering if her mother now believed her.
‘No!’
‘Yes!’

On a nearby street Veronica walked and approached the corner while she spoke into the radio. ‘Yes, it is cold today, but this top keeps me warm,’ she was saying. ‘How is the cooking? You have cooked the chicken? Have you sliced vegetable and mixed together? What about the spice?’

‘Yes! I have seen one, here in New Flagstaff,’ the child insisted. The mother laughed. ‘There are no ti-’ She stopped suddenly as around the corner came… no, it could not be possible… No! Tigers do not walk using only two legs! This is no tiger, this is a woman wearing tiger pants, and tiger top, white with purple stripes.

‘What about the potato? Have you added it?’ Veronica said into her radio now around the corner and in the next street. ‘What? Boil first? No! The instructions said slice and to the pot add it-’ Veronica suddenly had a strange feeling she was being watched. She turned her head and saw she was passing a woman and child walking the other direction. They looked at her. Veronica looked at them while continuing her conversation. ‘Raw!’ she said.

After the Tiger pant wearing woman had gone by, the mother shook her head, odd she thought, very odd. With her mouth still open with surprise, she looked to her daughter who was looking back to her with a huge grin.

(( Huyy I love Veronica. Party night conversations turn into clever, funny posts here. There should be more to come, I do hope she gets time to write.

I would rather die peacefully in my sleep, like Grandad, than screaming, like his passengers
