The Art of Laughter

Veronica Volt's picture
Submission type:

Veronica looked again at the painting. 'This is pre-electric light style?' she asked.

Hyle smiled. 'Pre-Raphealite,' she corrected. 'It is Pre-Raphealite. I painted a Pre-Raphealite V V'

'I have not read the poem,' Veronica said. 'What did you say it is called? The Lady of Shallots?'

Hyle could hold back no longer and burst into laughter. Veronica looked to Hyle confused first, then smiled, then grinned, then also burst into laughter.

Hyle laughed more making Veronica laugh more, tears falling down her cheeks. 'I... laugh... laugh so much... there are tears,' Veronica said with voice shaking with laughter.

'Perhaps... perhaps it the onions!' Hyle said with difficulty between her laughing.

Veronica continued to laugh. She had no idea why.
